News to Celebrate

Dear friends,

Just a quick note to share a few exciting updates from the studio and beyond.

RHYTHMS — Final Week!

There’s still time to catch RHYTHMS at Linden Hall Studio, Deal, Kent, running until Saturday 28th June. I’m thrilled to have been invited to exhibit alongside two brilliant painters and a potter in this beautifully curated show, where each of us explores the power of expressive movement and gesture in our work.

I have 20 pieces in the exhibition, all celebrating dynamic line and fluid motion through bold brushwork and elegant forms. The response has been incredible, with red dots appearing like cherries on a cake, as one friend quipped at our buzzing private view.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s come along, supported, and collected work. It’s been a joy!

Blue Eyes Joins the REJECTS!

I’m over the moon that my piece ‘Blue Eyes’ has been selected for REJECTS 2025, the celebrated alternative to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. This vibrant show champions powerful work that didn’t make the RA cut — and it’s making waves.

Curated by Art Friend Gallery (@everyonesartfriend) REJECTS 2025 runs at The Stokey PopUp, London from 3–13 July. Last year’s show was featured by The Guardian and BBC Radio, so this year promises to be equally unmissable.

Guest Appearance — Jo’s Art History Podcast

I’m also delighted to be a guest on the brilliant Jo’s Art History Podcast this July. Jo and I had a rich, insightful conversation about Emily Kam Kngwarray, the groundbreaking Indigenous Australian artist whose work has been compared to Monet and Matisse.

Emily’s retrospective opens at Tate Modern on July 10, and our podcast episode drops just before, on July 8. As an archaeologist who researched Central Australian art over 30 years ago — including Emily’s work — this was a deeply personal and inspiring discussion.

Emily’s art is extraordinary: full of colour, movement, and profound cultural significance. If you’re curious about Aboriginal art and its storytelling power, I hope you’ll tune in. And if you’re near London, her Tate retrospective is a must-see.

Thanks, as always, for following my work and being part of the journey. Here’s to a vibrant summer full of art, colour, and creative energy!

Warmest wishes,
Jane.
